Ford Buys Half of Mazda Plant: Ford Motor Co. has completed the purchase of a half-interest in Mazda Motor Corp.’s $760-million auto assembly plant in Flat Rock, Mich. The plant, 25 miles south of Detroit, assembles 240,000 cars a year, including the Ford Probe and the Mazda 626 and MX-6. Opened in 1987, Flat Rock employs 3,500 workers.
