DEL MAR : 2 Chino Brothers Contest Farm Will
Two Orange County brothers have begun legal proceedings, claiming they have been unfairly disenfranchised from co-ownership of their family vegetable farm in Del Mar.
The brothers, Jun and Shigeru Chino, both physicians, claim the will left behind by their father Junzo Chino, excludes them from co-ownership of the farm, which is renowned statewide for the vegetables it produces.
The brothers filed a motion April 17 in Vista to contest the will, according to their attorney, Per Trebler of Santa Ana.
According to the will, the 52-acre farm was left to four of the nine Chino siblings who still work there, Frank, Tom, Kay and Fred Chino.
Junzo Chino died in 1990. His wife, Hatsuyo, died last fall.
“We feel that the will did not accurately reflect the true wishes of the senior Chinos,” Trebler said.
