Shareholders Sue Over Sprint, Centel Merger: At least 10 shareholder lawsuits have been filed seeking to stop a proposed merger of Chicago-based Centel Corp. and Sprint Corp., according to court documents. Some of the suits were filed in Cook County Circuit Court, seeking temporary and permanent injunctions against completion of the proposed transaction. Other suits challenging the merger were filed in federal district court in Chicago and in Topeka, Kan. Details of those suits were not available. Last week, Centel and Kansas City, Mo.-based Sprint agreed to merge in a deal valued at about $2.85 billion.
