Gardner’s Retirement

As a recent graduate of UC Irvine and having read your article, I find the passionate support and expedient reaffirmation of Gardner’s budget-stabbing pension package utterly reprehensible. I no longer wonder why university registration fees are routinely raised, why UC classroom overcrowding continues, and why the quality of UC education continues to deteriorate--the list goes on. Despite its obligation to set high standards for higher education in California, UC is apparently setting new standards for the promotion of cronyism and special interests.
