BEARING UP: The recession has cut business at Orange County’s 5,500 restaurants by an average of 25%, but family-style coffee shops like Norm’s (E1) are holding their own, says Jim Walker, president of the California Restaurant Assn.’s local chapter. . . . Some are even doing better . “The Coco’s, the Millie’s and other moderately priced restaurants are seeing about an 8% to 10% upswing. . . . Those perceived as offering a value seem to be faring quite well.”
