Life in Leisure World: Another Dimension Is Explored
I take umbrage with the two articles you published about retirement communities, especially Leisure World Laguna Hills. It is my impression that many of the people you mentioned would not have lived this long had they not lived in such a community.
Many of us who are residents of Leisure World Laguna Hills and are senior citizens lead a very active life here.
Of the 22,000 residents of this community, 9,000 are enrolled in diversified programs in the Saddleback College Emeritus Institute and participate quite actively. In fact, at our last Arts and Crafts show on May 2 and 3, in which the students demonstrated their abilities, the unofficial attendance was 1,800 on the first day and approximately the same number on the second day.
At our golf courses, it is almost impossible to get choice tee times because so many people are involved.
Our five Olympic-size pools are used constantly by swimmers well into their 90s. In fact, we have international gold medal winners among our senior swimmers.
