Clooney Foundation Singers Net $500,000

Betty Clooney Foundation for Persons With Brain Injury netted $500,000 at its seventh annual “Singers Salute to the Songwriter” at the Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on April 21. More than 3,000 guests attended the black-tie gala honoring Dolores and Bob Hope and the late Johnny Mercer. Proceeds will be used for community-based vocational and recreational services for survivors of brain injury.

Braille Institute received a $31,500 check April 28 from its auxiliary group, proceeds of the 14th annual “Promenade” at the Universal City Sheraton. The benefit included a tour of the Gene Autry Museum, silent auction, gourmet lunch and entertainment by the Citrus Singers. Braille Institute president Iris Whiting chaired the event.

Asian Pacific Family Center’s fifth annual awards dinner, held April 24 at the Quiet Cannon Restaurant in Montebello, netted $61,000. More than 900 guests attended. The center, a division of Pacific Clinics, provides multicultural, multidisciplinary mental health services to people in need. The benefit was sponsored by American International Bank, Cathay Bank, East-West Federal Bank, Great Western Bank and San Gabriel Valley Medical Center.
