About the bars that “filter the ocean,” as the artist says, they may create a public art controversy that will happen over and over if the process is not fixed (“Pavilion’s’ Subtlety Lost Amid Protests,” March 14).
In the case of the Carlsbad sculpture “Split Pavilion,” overlooking the ocean, it’s time to republish the original sketch used to obtain approval. What the public saw was a 5-by-2-inch architect’s sketch.
And there are trees and shrubs. Lots of them. Who would recognize the present sculpture as that in the sketch?
Tell me again. Who was it that approved it?
