WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Long Beach Wins Again in Hawaii
HONOLULU — Trise Jackson scored 24 points as Cal State Long Beach held on to beat No. 15 Hawaii, 75-72, in a Big West Conference game Sunday.
Cal State Long Beach (11-3 overall, 5-0 in the conference) handed Hawaii its only other loss Friday night.
Sunday’s game was tied, 59-59, midway through the second half before the 49ers held Hawaii scoreless for five minutes to take a 65-59 lead.
The Wahines (11-2, 2-2) moved within 69-67 with 1:50 left, but Long Beach held them off the rest of the way.
Bolivia Gaytan had 14 points and Kari Parriott 12 for the 49ers. Hawaii was led by Kaui Wakita’s 17 points, and Val Agee had 16, Kalei Namohala 12 and Jen Kaeo 10.
