Annoyed by Amtrak

Bah, humbug! In your Bargain Corner (“ ‘Tis the Season for Western Travel on Amtrak,” Dec. 8), the round-trip fare from L.A. to San Diego may be quoted as $31, but travelers beware of holiday prices. On the day before Thanksgiving, the price was in fact $48. When I said I was returning on Saturday, no matter, it was (still) the holiday fare. Obviously the holiday rates began Wednesday and continued through Sunday. So much for bargains.
