Fans Should Say No to Spiraling Salaries

Isn’t it ironic that people scream when the Padres don’t go out and spend millions on a couple of players, then complain five months later when it cost close to a hundred bucks to take Edna and the kids to a ball game? Perhaps we should applaud the Padres for coming to their senses and realize they can’t compete with teams like the Dodgers and Mets who have the big markets to support their off-season acquisitions. Uncontrolled spending will leave baseball in the same boat as our federal government . . . bankrupt . This free-agency merry-go-round with .250 hitters making $2.5 million a year is giving Joe Sixpack second thoughts on how much longer he is willing to support baseball’s dirty habit. Let’s all just say no.
