A 63-year-old Thousand Oaks man drowned in his apartment complex’s pool Saturday night after falling in while alone, a Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Mavilo Roberto Aguirre, who knew how to swim, had been drinking with friends at the pool earlier in the day and may have been too intoxicated to swim to the side of the eight-foot-deep pool, Deputy Ventura County Coroner Craig Stevens said.
Aguirre was pulled fully clothed from the pool by two other residents of the Park Terrace Apartments in the 200 block of Erbes Road, authorities said. Stevens said Aguirre was in the water 30 minutes to an hour.
Detective Sgt. Mike De Los Santos said paramedics arrived just as Curtis Miller and Francisco Delgadillo were pulling Aguirre from the pool. He said efforts to revive the victim were unsuccessful. He was later pronounced dead at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks.
