Right-hander Erik Hanson was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Seattle Mariners, who bought right-hander Pat Rice from Calgary of the Pacific Coast League to replace him on the roster.

Hanson, who went on the disabled list retroactive to May 12, has a tender right elbow. He is 3-1 with a 3.45 ERA in seven starts.

The Cincinnati Reds placed shortstop Barry Larkin on the 15-day disabled list to rest an inflamed nerve in his throwing elbow.
