MAIL HAVENS FOR LAST-MINUTE TAX FILERS

Here are 10 post offices in Los Angeles County that will be open until midnight on Monday, April 15, to accommodate last-minute income-tax filers. Each location will have uniformed personnel outside to collect federal and state income tax returns. Full window service will be offered as well. Taxpayers should have returns stamped and ready to mail, because traffic is expected to be heavy and parking scarce. The IRS toll-free help line, (800) 829-1040, will have extended hours on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Monday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
