TAIWAN: Manufacturing-related investment in Taiwan continues to decline, a reflection of investor concern about rapidly rising labor costs in the island republic. Investments in manufacturing in Taiwan were an estimated $87.8 million in the first quarter of 1991, a 3.6% drop from levels recorded during the same period in 1990. Labor costs in the manufacturing sector have doubled the past five years.
