SQUEEZED OUT: Children born here after the 1970s are sure to wonder why they call this Orange County. . . . In 1943 the region had a peak 65,000 acres of producing orange groves but now has a mere 3,435, most in the Irvine area. . . . The city of Orange, fearing extinction of its namesake orchards, planted an orange grove in W.O. Hart Park as a living museum.
