CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN DIEGO : Border Plane Crash Kills 2 From L.A.
Two people were killed when a single-engine plane on its way to Baja California from Los Angeles crashed near the border with Mexico, authorities said. The pilot and another passenger were critically injured when the plane went down in fog. The dead were identified as Linda Carol Wagner, 46, and Bill Eisleben, 45, both of Los Angeles, San Diego County coroner’s officials said. The pilot, Robie Ratliff, 53, of Fountain Valley, and a third passenger, Margarita Rosenfeld, 33, were taken to Mercy Hospital in San Diego. Ratliff was in critical condition, suffering from a head injury and numerous cuts, and Rosenfeld was in stable condition with broken ribs and internal injuries, said hospital spokeswoman Debbie Seitz.
