The State - News from Sept. 29, 1989
Two suspected burglars got to San Quentin a lot faster than most after unwittingly breaking into the state prison while on the lam. The incident began when three men tried to break into a pickup truck near the ferry terminal at Larkspur, authorities said. The owner of the truck arrived on the scene, began to chase the men and then hailed a police car. The three suspects managed to elude authorities for a short while before two of them climbed a fence onto prison property, prison officials said. The third was still at large. Two suspects, a 16-year-old boy, and Stephen Le, 18, of Oakland, were arrested and turned over to police. Both were booked for investigation of auto burglary and trespassing on a state prison.
