Cutbacks at Sears Facility: Sears, Roebuck & Co. will reduce by nearly half the 250-member work force at its telemarketing operation as part of continuing cutbacks in its merchandise group staff. Part of a previously announced restructuring, Sears said 104 of the employees at its suburban Chicago facility, most of them part time, will be terminated at the company’s credit telemarketing and shop-at-home direct-marketing services departments by Oct. 6.
