Australian Coast Hit by Cyclone; 2 Killed
From Associated Press
SYDNEY, Australia — Cyclone Aivu swept across Queensland on Tuesday, and authorities declared part of the state a disaster area after two people died, 10 were injured and dozens of homes were damaged.
The cyclone, packing 100-m.p.h. winds, began battering the east coast as the country was recovering from three days of torrential rains during which four people drowned and four others were missing.
Police said one man died when his trailer was swept into a creek near Ayr and another man died when his home was flattened in the same town.
