Walk to Raise Money for Hungry : Local News in Brief
Several hundred harbor area residents will stage a 10-kilometer walk around Point Fermin on Saturday to raise money for the hungry.
The ninth annual Los Angeles Harbor Hunger Walk, sponsored by an interdenominational group of churches, will begin at 10 a.m. at Point Fermin Park.
The walkers have raised as much as $25,000 in previous years. This year 25% of their proceeds will go to local charities and the remainder will be distributed nationally by the Church World Service, which sponsors similar walks across the country.
Those interested in joining the walk may contact Duane Eberhardt at 831-1105 or Cindy Murry at 831-6736.
