THE PREPS : Boys’ Basketball Roundup : Laguna Hills Comes Back to Beat Laguna Beach, 55-51
Pat Nelson scored 18 points scored to lead Laguna Hills High School to a 55-51 victory over Laguna Beach Friday night in a Pacific Coast league boys’ basketball game at Laguna Beach.
Laguna Beach (7-11, 1-5) led, 28-26, at halftime and 40-39 after 3 quarters. Laguna Hills took the lead with 4 minutes left.
Chris Sheff, who scored 10 points, made 2 free throws with 45 seconds to clinch the victory.
Beau Hossler scored 12 points for Laguna Hills (13-6, 5-1).
In another Pacific Coast league game:
Woodbridge 64, Costa Mesa 56--Joey Chen scored 20 points to lead Woodbridge (6-10, 4-2) at Costa Mesa. Tom Shanklin scored 11 points and Romalis Taylor 10 for the Warriors. Costa Mesa is 2-14, 1-5.
In the Olympic League:
Orange Lutheran 74, Brethren 55--Pat Bagatourian had 19 points and 18 rebounds to lead Orange Lutheran (16-3, 9-0) at Brethren. Todd Mitchell scored 27 points for Brethren (8-9, 5-4).
Whittier Christian 71, Capistrano Valley Christian 61--Scott Ferguson scored 16 points, Matt Riehm, Paul McKinley and Kealii Takahashi scored 11 each for Whittier Christian (14-5, 7-1). Jason Rodarmel scored 17 and Matt Wheaton 15 for Capistrano Valley Christian.
In the Express League:
Bethel Baptist 39, Pioneer Baptist 32--Marcus Morley scored 17 points to lead Bethel Baptist at Pioneer Baptist.
