Local News in Brief : Garden Grove : No-Interest Loans to Repair Rentals Offered

To encourage owners of rental property to make improvements, the city’s Housing and Neighborhood Development Department is offering 5-year loans with no interest.
The loans, part of Garden Grove’s rental-rehabilitation program, can be deferred for 5 years with no monthly payments. But the property owner is required to match the amount of the loan dollar for dollar.
Typical improvements that qualify for the loans include interior and exterior painting, roof and eaves replacement, and electrical and plumbing repairs. A city inspection of the property is required before loans are approved, and some loans will be given priority based on where the property is located.
