Com Systems Reports 73% 3rd-Quarter Profit Rise
Com Systems, a Van Nuys provider of long-distance telephone services, said its third-quarter profit soared 73% from a year earlier on a 57% increase in revenue.
In the quarter that ended Sept. 30, Com Systems’ net income rose to $1.11 million, or 13 cents a share, from $640,000, or 13 cents a share, a year earlier. Although Com Systems’ overall profit rose, its per-share earnings were flat because the company had more shares outstanding than a year ago.
Com Systems’ third-quarter revenue rose to $16.3 million from $10.4 million.
For the first nine months of 1988, the company’s net income increased 25% to $2.43 million, or 39 cents a share, from $1.94 million, or 40 cents a share, a year earlier. Nine-month revenue rose 47% to $42.9 million from $29.3 million.
Com Systems provides service in California, Arizona and Nevada. During the present quarter, the company plans to expand into Utah, Colorado and New Mexico.
