NBA Roundup : Drexler Leads Blazers Over Warriors
Clyde Drexler scored a game-high 29 points and Kevin Duckworth had 12 of his 18 points in the third period to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 109-94 win over the Golden State Warriors Sunday night at Portland.
Trailing 59-58 early in the third period, Portland outscored the Warriors, 18-4, during a 5-minute stretch in which Duckworth scored 8 points. It gave Portland a 76-63 lead with 3:36 left in the third period.
The win was the fourth straight for Portland while the Warriors have now dropped four in a row.
Golden State led, 53-51, at the half with Ralph Sampson and Winston Garland scoring 14 points. Garland led the Warriors with 18 points, while Sampson had only 2 points in the second half to finish with 16.
Cleveland 109, Miami 80--Ron Harper scored 26 points and led a Cavalier comeback from a 12-point deficit against the winless Heat at Richfield, Ohio.
Harper scored 5 points during a 15-0 Cleveland run in the second period that wiped out a 42-30 Miami lead.
Brad Daugherty and Larry Nance scored 17 points for Cleveland, and Daugherty had 11 rebounds.
Miami, which started four rookies, was led by Grant Long, 6-8 forward from Eastern Michigan, with 14 points.
