The president of the International Olympic Committee said he favors allowing the participation of professional basketball and baseball players in the Olympics, but not professional boxers.
Juan Antonio Samaranch, said the rules of professional boxing are very different from those of amateur boxing, adding that he favors participation in the Olympics of professional basketball and baseball players if they accept the rules of the International Baseball Assn. and the International Amateur Basketball Federation.
