Loyola Cagers Will Play Czech Team

Loyola Marymount will play the Czechoslovakian men’s basketball team Saturday night at 7:30 in Gersten Pavilion. Jeff Fryer won’t be in uniform for the Lions due to a sprained knee ligament, but is expected back within a week. The game will be shown on Channel 27 of American Cablesystems in Westchester and Playa del Rey.

The Cal State Dominguez Hills men’s and women’s basketball teams open play this afternoon in the Cal Poly Pomona Tournament. The men play the University of Manitoba at 3. The women open at 1 against Eastern Montana.

The Loyola-Marymount women’s volleyball team, 9-18 overall, is at the University of Portland tonight and at Gonzaga University on Saturday night in West Coast Athletic Conference matches. The Lions are 4-8 in conference play.

The national long track championships of motorcycle racing will be held at Ascot Raceway tonight at 8, followed Saturday night by the Don Peabody Classic for sprint cars. The 50-lap feature race Saturday begins at 8 p.m.

The ninth annual Natural Drug-Free Bodybuilding Contest will be held Sunday at the Aviation Center in Redondo Beach. The preliminary rounds, which cost $6 to see, begin at noon. The price for the finals, which begin at 6 p.m., is $12.
