Hewlett-Packard’s net income rose to $816 million, up 27%, in its 1988 fiscal year ended Oct. 31. The Palo Alto-based maker of computers, measurement systems and electronic equipment said its orders rose 19%, surpassing $10 billion for the first time. Revenue rose to $9.8 billion in fiscal 1988, up 22%. Fourth-quarter income totaled $243 million, up 11% from the year-ago period, on revenue of $2.7 billion, up 17%. For the fiscal year, the company said, orders were up particularly in the Asia-Pacific region and in Europe.
