Thousand Oaks Seeks Another Volleyball Title
A few days after her volleyball team lost to Newbury Park High on Oct. 8, Thousand Oaks setter Amy Chellevold guaranteed that the Lancers would win the rematch.
Last week, Chellevold and her teammates made good on that promise. Thousand Oaks beat Newbury Park and will enter the Southern Section 4-A Division playoffs as the Marmonte League’s top representative.
Thousand Oaks won consecutive 2-A titles before the league was moved up in classification this season.
Thousand Oaks (15-1 overall) opens the playoffs against Alhambra (10-6) at home at 7:30 tonight.
Newbury Park (15-1), which lost to Thousand Oaks in the 2-A championship match last season, will play host to Burroughs (15-4). Glendale (7-7) plays at Louisville (8-8) in a 4-A match and Reseda plays host to Birmingham in a City Section 3-A match.
Agoura (12-2), the 3-A runner-up last season, plays host to Quartz Hill (11-6) in a first-round match.
