U.S. Refuses Aid to Nicaragua
Your editorial accurately labels the Reagan Administration’s refusal to send disaster relief to Nicaragua’s hurricane victims as cruel, cynical and counterproductive.
Also consider the following:
This is the same Administration which opposed an economic embargo of South Africa on the pretext that it would only bring suffering to that nation’s poorest, the black victims of apartheid.
The obvious inconsistency here is but one more illustration of what by now should be apparent. This Administration, despite posturing about school prayer, “right to life,” and family values, cares nothing about human suffering at home or abroad. Only political ideology matters. I call that duplicitous and morally bankrupt.
