Patrick M. Williamson plans to resign as president and chief executive of Triumph Releasing Corp., a sales support organization of Columbia Pictures Entertainment, effective Jan. 1, 1989. He will continue as a consultant to Columbia. J. Edward Shugrue, currently senior executive vice president of Triumph, will succeed Williamson.
Williamson joined Columbia Pictures in 1944 as a member of the publicity department in the London office.
