According to ex-Beatle publicist Derek Taylor, Ringo Starr and wife Barbara Bach have been treated for alcoholism in an unspecified American clinic for the past month. Taylor said the couple had been treated for four weeks and have another month to go. “This is a considered statement requesting that media interest in this matter be mature and restrained in order that Mr. and Mrs. Starkey (Starr’s given name) and their fellow recovering alcoholics can continue to make progress in peace and quiet,” Taylor said.
