Eagle rookie tight end Keith Jackson leads the league with 54 receptions. And in his own way, Jackson, who played at Oklahoma, likes to remind everyone that he should have gone higher than 13th in the draft.

“I felt like I should have been picked earlier because I was probably one of the better guys in the draft as far as being a rookie,” Jackson said. “But that’s just something that I think about.”

Jackson caught 3 passes for 52 yards and 2 touchdowns Sunday.

The Rams drafted running back Gaston Green with the 14th pick of the first round. Jackson’s analysis of Green?

“I’ve watched him since he was a freshman,” Jackson said. “He’s always been a great player. With the running backs that they have there, they probably needed him to play eventually. I think he’s going to be a great running back in the future because he’s one of the fastest guys.”

Another difficult day for Ram rookie wide receiver Aaron Cox.

Last week against the New Orleans Saints, Cox dropped 3 passes. Sunday, he dropped another long pass and later, in the third quarter, was sidelined with a mild concussion. To add insult to injury, it was former Arizona State teammate Eric Allen who delivered the blow.

“I don’t think it was intentional,” Cox said. “(Allen) said he didn’t realize I went out of the game after the hit. He seemed shocked about what happened.”

As for the long pass that grazed Cox’s fingertips, Cox said:

“I misjudged the ball. I was afraid that if I kept running, it would have bounced behind me. I just barely missed it. The ball came directly over my head and that made it even tougher to judge.”

Ram Coach John Robinson on the play of quarterbacks Randall Cunningham and Jim Everett:

“I think you saw the next era of quarterbacks today, the next of the best.”

Cunningham finished the day 22 of 39 for 323 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Everett was 24 of 45 for 377 yards, 2 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
