College Roundup : Irvine Beats Pacific in Water Polo, 12-6

Tom Warde and Skylar Putman each scored 4 goals to lead UC Irvine to a 12-6 victory over the University of the Pacific Sunday in a Big West Conference water polo match at Irvine.

The loss snapped Pacific’s 8-game winning streak.

Irvine (14-11 overall, 5-1 in conference) led, 5-1, at halftime as Putman, a freshman from Newport Harbor High School, scored 2 goals.

The Anteaters extended that lead to 10-4 early in the fourth quarter. Warde, a junior from Marina High School, scored 3 of his goals in the second half.

Chris Thompson scored 3 goals for Pacific (14-10, 3-6).

Goalie Andy Nott made 7 saves for Irvine. Don Della Maggiora made 13 saves for Pacific.

In Big West Conference men’s soccer:

Nevada Las Vegas 2, UC Irvine 1--Simon Keith scored the go-ahead goal 7 minutes into the second half for UNLV at Irvine.
