Rivers in the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York overflowed their banks, flooding homes, washing out a road and forcing authorities to close parts of some highways, officials said. A combination of a rapid rainfall and melting snow sent sections of the Ausable, Bouquet and Deer rivers above flood stage, although the waters were receding, the National Weather Service said. No injuries were reported in the flooding. Meanwhile, an early winter storm dumped up to 2 feet of snow along parts of the Lake Superior shoreline, while heavy rain caused flooding in Washington state. Snow fell over eastern Wisconsin, Michigan, northeast Illinois, much of Indiana and northern Ohio and into northwest New York. A foot of snow slowed traffic in Upper Michigan.
