Liberals Take Lead in Canada Poll
From Reuters
TORONTO — Canada’s opposition Liberal Party has jumped to a 12-point lead over Prime Minister Brian Mulroney’s Conservatives with just two weeks before federal elections, according to a Gallup poll released today.
The poll, conducted for the Toronto Star newspaper, gave the Liberals 43% of the vote and the Conservatives 31%. Just last week, the poll showed the Conservatives ahead with 38% to the Liberals’ 32%. The surge was attributed to growing public concern over a free-trade agreement between Mulroney’s government and the United States.
