Preliminary drawings of Renzo Piano’s design for Newport Harbor Art Museum’s new building will be shown Oct. 20 at Golden West Equity Properties in Newport Beach.

Museum development director Margie Shackelford stressed that the designs are “very, very early--there’s nothing yet to get ahold of.” Still, it will mark the first time that the plans in any form have been made public by museum officials. The event is being sponsored by the museum’s Business Council in return for a promised donation from Golden West, which is at Jamboree Road and MacArthur Boulevard. The plans will be on display from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and tickets to the showing are $25 to benefit the museum.
