Americans fared well at the 45th Venice Film Festival. Don Ameche and Joe Mantegna shared the Volpio Cup for best actor for their roles in “Things Change,” directed by playwright David Mamet. Shirley MacLaine and France’s Isabelle Huppert shared the best-actress cup. The top prize, the Golden Lion, went to Italian director Ermanno Olmi for “The Legend of the Holy Drinker.”
