Tourist Tells of Robbery by Baboon
CAPE TOWN, South Africa — A Dutch tourist said Friday that she was robbed by a baboon, who jumped into her relatives’ car, ate their food and ran off with baggage containing her passport and travelers’ checks.
Mitte Von Gorkom, 60, of the Netherlands said in a newspaper interview that she was traveling with relatives through the Cape Point Nature Reserve last week when one member of the party got out of the car and left the door open.
“All of a sudden this baboon was at the car and we had to jump out. The animal started throwing things out of the car and ate some of the things we had brought with us,” Von Gorkom said.
