The State : Fugitive Back From Oregon
The boyfriend of a Riverside woman whose 3-year-old son was killed two weeks ago while in the man’s care was returned from Oregon for questioning by homicide detectives, authorities said. Raymond Eugene Ferrell, 29, the last man to report seeing Bobby Crawford alive, was arrested last week in Coos Bay, Ore., on a fugitive warrant alleging possession of cocaine. He was also wanted for questioning in the slaying of the Crawford boy, whose body was found in a grave near Glen Avon. Ferrell was initially questioned by deputies after the boy’s disappearance but was released and ordered to remain in Riverside County. Sheriff’s Sgt. Don Bender said last week that Ferrell “is one of the suspects in the case.” Ferrell, the live-in boyfriend of the boy’s mother, Karen Hill, told authorities that he last saw the boy sitting in a car at a gas station and that the boy was gone when he returned from a short shopping trip.
