Local News in Brief : Pigeons Drop Power Lines
It was pigeon-related.
That’s how Southern California Edison Co. officials explained a power outage Thursday morning that hit about 1,300 homes and businesses in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
Edison spokeswoman Becky Sordelet said some of the birds knocked down some high-voltage electrical lines at Willey Lane and Keith Avenue in West Hollywood at about 7:20 a.m.
Most customers had power restored by 9 a.m., but 40 of them had to wait until 3 p.m. for full service.
As for the pigeons, Sordelet said, “They obviously got fried.”
