Turkey handed over to Iran 95 armed men detained by the army since Sunday, when they were discovered on Turkish territory. The Iranians--armed with Soviet AK-47 assault rifles and grenade launchers and packing five machine guns on donkeys--apparently entered Turkey in error, a Foreign Ministry statement said. The intruders, who gave up when confronted by Turkish forces, included an undisclosed number of Iranian Revolutionary Guards and a handful of pro-Iranian Kurdish guerrillas fighting Iraqi troops in northern Iraq, Turkish officials said.
