VIDEO CHARTS
To no one’s surprise, “Crocodile Dundee” shot to the top of the Billboard magazine rental chart in just two weeks. Also, it claimed the No. 1 position on the sales chart in just one week. “Crocodile,” which is already one of the most profitable movies ever relased, should rule both charts for at least the next few weeks. “The Bedroom Window,” the thriller starring Steve Guttenberg and Elizabeth McGovern, appears headed for the rental chart Top 10. After two weeks, it jumped to No. 13. Middling hits this week: “Something Wild” (No. 19), “Witchboard” (No. 27) and “ ‘Round Midnight” (No. 38). Other sales charts: “Sleeping Beauty” is the top kidvid cassette; “Jane Fonda’s Low Impact Aerobic Workout” and “Jane Fonda’s New Workout” head the health and fitness chart.
* “Nightmare on Elm Street 3,” the grueling yet mildly amusing part of an enormously successful horror series that has made a very unlikely hero out of a homicidal maniac named Freddy Kreuger, jumped to No. 11 from No. 22. That’s good for most movies . . . but not for this one, which was widely expected within the industry to be in the Top Five by now.
