Killer of Lion to Be Rewarded With a Wife
Associated Press
NAIROBI, Kenya — A 16-year-old peasant who fatally speared a killer lion has been promised a wife as a reward for his courage, the Daily Nation reported Tuesday.
The newspaper said Muuku Abakula stabbed the lion in the neck last week when it attacked a bull grazing near his village in Moyale, on Kenya’s northern border with Ethiopia. A village elder said he would grant the young man a wife, the newspaper said.
In Kenya, many young men save years to pay a woman’s father to allow a marriage.
