One Man’s Passage

I have had the pleasure of hearing Hank Koehn, the nationally known futurist, lecture three times. The first time I heard him was almost by accident. I stumbled upon his lecture during a four-day conference and was immediately mesmerized and energized by his incredible vision and intellect. The second and third times, I made special efforts to bring as many friends as I could with me, promising them a day they would never forget. Koehn is a dynamic, arresting and inspiring genius. His words bring the future alive and leave the listener with endless vistas of possibilities.

I was startled and anguished to read Koehn’s article, “My Passage Through AIDS” (Aug. 14). Thank you for bringing his story to us. Once again Koehn’s words have inspired. This time, they have left this reader with a far deeper, personal and emotional understanding of AIDS. The accompanying photograph by Lacy Atkins deserves a photojournalism award: with her camera she has captured more than any words could possibly say. Hank Koehn has my highest respect and appreciation, and I wish him the very best in his private battle with this dreadful and tragic disease.
