Wells Fargo Bank introduced a new variable-rate credit card account for people who have demonstrated their credit worthiness. Called the Proven Credit Card, the new account carries an interest rate of 15.8%. After Dec. 31, the rate will vary, based on the prime rate plus 7.55%. The San Francisco-based bank will continue to offer its traditional credit card accounts, which carry an interest rate of 20%, or 17% for customers of five years or longer.
