For the first time in more than a year, ABC’s “World News Tonight” was the king of the evening news mountain last week, toppling the “NBC Nightly News,” which had been top gun for the previous 17 consecutive weeks. The beleaguered “CBS Evening News” came in third. Last week’s ratings, made public Tuesday, showed that ABC’s newscast averaged a 9.3 rating, NBC’s a 9.2 and CBS, 9.0. Each ratings point represents 874,000 homes.
