As pickets marched outside, NBC President Robert C. Wright told a convention of television executives gathered in a San Francisco hotel Monday that networks and the cable industry should work more closely together. “NBC believes we can provide immense value to cable at a critical stage of development without undermining our commitment to our core business,” Wright said to the Cable Television Administration and Marketing Society Convention. As an example of cooperation, Wright pointed to the Arts & Entertainment Cable Network, which is partly owned by NBC. As he spoke, members of the striking National Assn. of Broadcast Engineers and Technicians marched outside the Fairmont Hotel, which is also featured in the ABC television series “Hotel.”
