Saharan Storm Dumps Tons of Sand Over Paris

PARIS —  One hundred and fifty thousand tons of sand, blown across Europe by a storm over the Sahara, fell on Paris on Monday, the French Health Ministry said.

Cars in the French capital were spotted with yellow dust that--along with high temperatures and humid air--brought complaints from tourists, but the ministry said there was no danger to health.

Saharan sand was reported to have fallen on Spain late last week. In Britain, the London Weather Center said Monday that it reached as far as the English Midlands, where residents found their cars coated with fine dust after a rainfall.
