Boston Celtics star Larry Bird denied charges that he threatened his sister’s estranged husband and said he is being used because of his celebrity status.

Bird, his older brother Mark and his sister, Linda Campbell, have been charged with threatening Benjamin Campbell of Louisville, Ky.

“This is no big deal,” Bird told the Boston Herald . “It’s sad. I usually don’t get involved in my sister’s affairs, but he has hit her and put her in the hospital, and I don’t stand for that. I don’t put up with a man beating a woman.”
